Does it matter whether you go to a grammer school or a public school in the Uk?
Basically, I go to a grammer school, but for A levels my school doesn't offer ICT and i need it i think to become a graphic designer, so my sister goes to this public school near my house and they offer ICT as they are a ICT specialised school, so i don't know whether i should go there or not? because my mum said that more universities accept you if you go to a grammer school :/ not saying public schools are bad, i really want to go but im just trying to think about the future! MUCH help would be appreciated thank youuu! :)

It doesn't matter as long as the teaching quality is excellent because what's the point of going to school and didn't learn anything because you don't understand what the teacher is saying.

Move to UK During High School

Move to UK During High School?
I would love to study in the United Kingdom during high school, for only a year or so, and i was wondering if i have friends there could i make the arrangements to live with them for a year, not go through the whole study abroad program thing? If so, how would i do that?

just like the u.s. i assume, apply for student residency and visa. tell them what you want to do in england. also make sure a school will enroll you before you apply for a residency. basically thats it.

Which is a better University to study my undergrad in history? Duke(US) or the London School of Economics(UK)

Which is a better University to study my undergrad in history? Duke(US) or the London School of Economics(UK)?
I am also considering for the other social sciences subjects like politics. I am also considering for the other social sciences subjects like politics. I intend to work in the financial world upon graduation without any limitations to how employers will view me whether I work in the UK or US I am not particular with the student experience...just wondering which will secure me a better future in the job market globally Do tell me ur reasons as to why one is better than the other

These schools are so totally different, that it is impossible to say which would be better unless we knew more about your life plans. Are you intending to work in the US or the UK? Do you want an urban world-city experience, or a classic US rural campus experience. Are you a sports fan? Take a look at some of the parameters. If you are smart enough to be admitted to these schools, you should be smart enough to make a good decision.

Both are great universities. LSE is not really known (to the layman) for anything other than economics, while Duke is known as one of the best universities in the world. For history, I would give the slight edge to Duke. Since you indicated an interest in economics and finance, I will comment on that, too. For economics LSE has a very slight edge on the undergraduate level. On the graduate level, Duke has a marked edge in finance and financial econometrics while LSE would be superior in most other areas of economics.

i want to go for English School in the UK what is the best city near London

i want to go for English School in the UK what is the best city near London ?
so i was wondering what is the best place to go ? i mean city mostly i'm going for fun more than the school but i don't want it in London ,, i want it in the area near london ,, such as Milton Keynes or south London i mean i want to fin good schools ,, good people ,, nice area so you don't get home sick ,, and nice places to go ,, not so far from London so i can use the trains to reach London ,, like 1 hour or half hour and the most good thing ,, nice people (( families )) and nice cottages :P

umm it depends but i think salisbury is a good place to go. An hour and 15 by train. bout 2 hours by car. (without traffic) and theres some really nice places people and heritage.

Cambridge would have to be one of your top choices. It's a small city that, due to the University, has many of the facilities you'd normally only find in far larger places such as excellent restaurants, a great nightlife and world-class galleries and museums. There are a number of schools for foreign students, many of which will provide accommodation, hence an excellent student support network. The city is full of beautiful architecture and places of interest. Crime rates are low and it is known for the pleasant, laid-back and liberal nature of its population. What's more, it's less than an hour by train from London.

If I do a 3 year diploma after high-school(HSC) and have 5 years of job-experience, can I do my masters in UK?
I completed this diploma in computer science and want to do masters/MBA in UK or CANADA. So far I completed secondary school>higher secondary school>3 years diploma+job experience Please let me know in this situation can I get admission in UK/Canada universities in their Masters/MBA program.

The open university does courses for 6th form age students, but if you're younger than 16 I don't think there's any options except for school (full time) or home-schooling (with or without tutors)

There's also, if you're at GCSE age, all sorts of distance learning providers such as Oxford Homeschooling, ICS, etc. K12 also has an international section and countless other american online schools probably do too. Okay, the UK's online schools, in no particular order, are 1. Inter High (as in Inter(net) High) @ http://www.interhigh.co.uk 2. Briteschool (the British e-school) @ http://www.briteschool.co.uk 3. First College @ http://www.firstcollege.co.uk 4. Northstar @ http://www.northstaruk.org (Also http://issuu.com/nsuk/docs/nsukfamily_hi2009 for a copy of Northstar's online school [NSUK = NorthStar UK] prospectus. It's probably easier to get the facts by reading the prospectus; the main Northstar site is a wee bit busy in places.) Briteschool starts in year 5. Inter High and First College start with year 7 altho. both say they will enrol kids from 10 years old, presumably into year 7. Northstar doesn't really get going until year 7 altho. they do run a year 6 English class. You may also come across a UK online school called Ysgol Rhyngrwyd, but really that is just the Welsh name for Inter High. They're both the same online school; it's just that in English, it's called Inter High and in Welsh, it's Ysgol Rhyngrwyd ( http://ysgol-rhyngrwyd-igcse.wikispaces.com ). There was also another called 'Not School' but that was for problem kids, and I'm not sure it's still going anyway. Certainly their URL ( http://www.notschool.net ) no longer seems to work. Must just've been a glitch. It is and now it does. And as PINK says there are also UK correspondence schools, Oxford, National Extension College and Little Arthur's among them: http://www.oxfordhomeschooling.co.uk http://www.nec.ac.uk/courses/category-browse?category_id=6820 http://www.homeeducationspecialists.org.uk/ Plus, again just a word following on from PINK's comment about American Schools like K12, there are also other (non-American) International Schools who make their international programmes available to home-ed'ers worldwide. In contrast to the American schools that send you down the diploma/ACT/SAT track, many of those other international homeschools, such as South Africa's Love2Learn, follow the UK curriculum and still enable you to do your GCSEs, AS Levels and A Levels, all from a UK exam board (Cambridge).

Should I go to China for a school trip

Should I go to China for a school trip?
I am currently doing the engineering diploma at school (in the UK) and I have an opportunity to go a school in China for 1 week to compare our work with the Chinese students'. Best of all, it is only going to cost me (my parents!) Â£160. Do you think it is worth going? I have only ever been abroad once before (to Italy), so do you think that China is a bit much for an "inexperienced" traveller?

If it's only Â£160, then you should definitely go. It sounds like a really good opportunity for you. You should not really let this pass you by just by being 'inexperienced'. Otherwise you'd never go any further than Italy! You won't be on your own either, right? So you'll be fine. Go for it!
