I know that once you hit 16, students can either stop school or take A-levels, but how long do you study for A-Levels for before you take the exam?

Usually 2 years.

There is 1-2 years left and I suggest you finish them if you take A- Levels it's very hard to get a job cuz they always ask if you finished school
3 :
you study a levels for 2 years but you can stop after 1 year and just come out with half an A level (as level) but then after 2 years you could progress to uni or start working
4 :
2 years, you have AS level exams then A level exams
5 :
you go on to do a/s levels now at college which is the first year, normally 4 subjects, the 2nd year of college you can drop a subject and do the full a level in the 3 subjects, after there you go to uni, how long you stay depends on what you study..

At age 16 you would normally have 2 years of A level study to do, the providing you get the necessary grade, you then go on to uni.

Well,if your 16 then you're probably doing/ have already done your O'Levels. After that comes your A'levels which is a combination 2 years. What i mean by this is that your first A' Level year you will sit your AS examinations (typically you do 4 subjects here).then your second and last year you will sit your A'levels (which is a typical of 3 subjects-you drop one subject you did the previous year). The grades that you get from both years are combined to get your final A'Level grades. Hope its not too confusing.
